Stitched up!

It had to happen. I’ve never been one to let a fad pass me by (apart from anything excercise related, or similar in any way to PE lessons at school); I’m sure this will all end in tears and tantrums, but I have taken up knitting!!

I think I was 12 the last time I picked up a pair of knitting needles. I wasn’t very good at all – I’d start with 30 stitches on my needle, and a few lines later I’d have 117 stiches, lots of holes and knots and an angry red face!

I have completed my first ‘garment’. It’s a scarf (photo to follow), but it was probably cheating as I used giant knitting needles the size of baguettes and and chunky, humpy-bumpy, multi-coloured yarn. Mark said it was lovely and that of course he would wear it… possibly not now during the hottest June since records began here in the UK, but possibly when the thermometer dips below 30 degrees Celcius, it will definatley be an option.

My next project is this… which will involve actual patience, skill and normal-sized knitting needles, so I might be a bit frazzled the next time you hear from me!
