Believe

Day one of my Somerset sojourn took me to Glastonbury.

This is a place full of myth and legend (and hippies). It’s definitely the location of some stuff to do with King Arthur and the Holy Grail… plus I think dragons might live there and everything is magick with a ‘k‘. I am basing this knowledge on the contents of the dozens of gift shops; the painted murals on any free surface and the fug of patchouli insense that permeated everwhere.

I know I need to be less cynical, but I have come to realise that I need to believe in proven and tangible things – it’s just the way I am. I’m not totally cold and clinical though, there are plenty of ethereal and indeterminate things that I do believe in – such as love and goodness (and evil).

For all my cynicism though I have to say I love it in Glastonbury – I love that you can buy spells, crystals and ‘Happy Solstice’ greetings cards along with your weekly vegetables. I love that you’re assumed to be vegan unless you specify otherwise and that everyone is smiling and kind. Please do go if you get the chance, it’s a really very unique experience!
