Mono

It’s one of the most colourful times of the year, the trees are amazing and every shade of yellow, red and bronze you can imagine. So what could be more fitting than a quick little collection of black and white images!

I love black and white photos, don’t you? When you take away the colour, suddenly you’re much more aware of the textures and composition.

I think I’m going to shoot a roll of old-school black and white film to remind myself of what proper black and white looks like – to see how colours look in monotone. Just flipping the ‘convert to black and white’ switch on your camera or in your image editing software isn’t always convincing – with these I’ve adjusted each colour level separately and done it by eye but there’s probably a more scientific way to approach it – I’ll let you know if there is (and it works).
