As you’ll be able to tell from the photos below, I went to the seaside today! Here’s a little vlog I made about it using my phone – looks like 2012 is going to be the year of the video pour moi!
Winter sunshine is beautiful, don’t you think?
There are probably scientific reasons why the quality of light is different at this time of year; to do with angles and unfathomable distances, no doubt – all I know is that it makes for lovely photographs.
This is Milford-on-Sea – we drove home through the New Forest as the sun was setting and it looked glorious…

16 January 2012 at 11:20Your pictures are lovely, as usual. And I totally agree, when winter does light (it mostly does dark in Belgium), it doesn’t half do it well! Yesterday was like that magical hour you get just before sunset during the summer, but ALL DAY LONG! It was fabulous. We got out for a wander in the forest. Everthing looked beautiful, covered in frost and lit up by the low, almost horizontal light. Charlie had his first walk too – no ugly buggy in the way. Oh you can bet there are some photos on the way! Ha! Now: must remember to watch your vlog when I get home (you should put them on vimeo too so I can sneekily watch them from work – ssssh!).

See now, when it’s July and we’re baking and the sun is glaring down at us we’ll be wishing for that January sunshine…… maybe!
(And clever Charlie)! x
