I’m so excited! Two days off work (pant-wettingly exciting in itself), PLUS the sun is shining and it’s properly warm… like summer! I may even get to use the air-conditioning feature in the car too – superb!

13 May 2006 at 03:52Air conditioning in the UK! Amazing. When I was living over in Bristol the weather was so mild that only a few days of the year qualified for anything like “summer” from where I grew up. Tomorrow it’ll be over 100 degrees. They call it a “dry heat” here in Arizona. But the truth of it is, so is sticking your head in an oven.
I’ve been watching the old “Kung Fu” tv series on DVD, they used to do a lot of interesting things with sunlight that you don’t see on other shows. An ex-girlfriend of mine used to say that the sunlight of the 70s was different than later decades. I don’t know if that was nostalgia or if indeed there was some kind of qualitative difference, but they certainly don’t film the sunlight the same way they used to.

14 May 2006 at 00:29In the 70s people seemed to go mad with lens-flare effects and shooting directly into the sun… just look at the “Simon & Garfunkel” greatest hits album cover… http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B0000265HP/
