Hooray – at last I am communicado again (as opposed to incommunicado), thanks to a new motherboard, new superfast RAM and a smarty-pants husband who can fix anything with a micro-processor on board, using just a heavy-weight hammer and some elastic bands! Am not joking.
During my off-line time I’ve done some knitting. Boy, how I’ve knitted! I’ve done plenty of ripping-knitting-to-pieces-and-starting-again too; my output to input ratio is not too healthy, but below is an example of what I’ve been up to…
…it’s a kind of ruff type thing which is very, very warm as I discovered when I wore it out the other night. If I looked pissed off it’s because the Kate Moss look-a-like model in the pattern book looks better in it than I do. I wonder why?!
Keeping me going through these knitting marathons has been a continuous supply of pretty-okay-really coffee from my new Senseo coffee machine. It’s no espresso (still making trips to Costa for that), but it’s a million times better than instant coffee, and a lot quicker and straight-forward than a filter or cafetiere job – especially first thing in the morning.
In my office at work, we decided we were spending far too much money on trips to the coffee shop for espresso-based (lovely) coffees, so we brought a Tassimo hot drinks machine. First impressions are not good at all. I’m a bit worried because it was my bright idea to get it! I had the ‘kenco medium blend’ and can only liken the experience to that of drinking poison. I had to check I hadn’t used a pod of cleaning fluid by mistake, but no, it definately said coffee on the label. I couldn’t believe it could really be that bad so I tried the other coffee they do called ‘cafe crema’ which is basically the same but has a layer of septic looking foam smothering the top (a bit like when you cook cheap rice without cleaning it). There was, however less of this, so it was better in that respect! Now I’m spending a fortune in the coffee shop at work AND buy coffee pods for a crappy drinks machine. Great!
