A souper way to go!

Last night, with nothing else as an option (well, nothing else I fancied), I ate a tin of soup. This wasn’t any old soup though, oh no, this was Heinz Scottish Vegetable Soup.

This has long been my favourite sort of tinned soup – it’s amazing, full of lentils, beef and butter beans – but the last time this was available to buy in the shops was about 3 years ago. I think I may have eaten the last ever tin of this soup in the world, ever!

Possibly there are other grief striken ‘Scottish Vegetable Soup’ fans out there who would have paid a fortune for it on ebay, but, I’ve gone and eaten it now – every mouthful taking me a bit closer to never having it again!

I kept the label – I may have to use the ingredients list as a starting point for a recipe and see if I can’t recreate it. In the mean time, if you see any about, maybe covered in dust at the back of some seldom-frequented corner-shop. Please, let me know!

I adore this soup and mourned its passing, but it did this about 20 years ago and came back – maybe a petition is in order ???

I lived in this soup, family size tin every sat mornin ,best hangover cure ever.i phoned to ask why they stopped makin it way back when they did, their answer was that it wasn’t a big seller even though it was flying off the shelves in scotland. But today I was in gettin some messages and there in the shelf was a new soup by Heinz called lentil and bacon, just had it and would you believe it it is like heaven to my taste buds, they’ve only gone and changed the name and used bacon instead of beef. If you get a tin compare the ingredients,I bet there won’t be much a difference.i can’t make out the label you’ve put on here or I’d do it myself, let me know if it is please
