Whoosh – another year gone!
2009. It was the year I turned 40. I didn’t think it would bother me that much but it really did. No matter what I did to distract myself I couldn’t help but focus on all the things I hadn’t done and failed to achieve.
That’s not to say that this year was a complete wash-out my any means – I had an amazing holiday to my beloved Cornwall.

I unravelled a little bit – got in touch with some tender and hidden emotions – camera and notebook in hand (thoroughly recommended by the way). I also got to spend a whole glorious hot and sunny day in Bath with the amazing and inspiring Susannah!
I got to spend some happy times with my lovely friend and her gorgeous children.
And of course, there were all the photos (and the cameras, so many cameras)!
Yes, I took many photos with many cameras. My arsenal now includes a variety of film cameras and any trip out involves tricky decisions about which lucky one gets to come along (or how to get hold of a pack mule if I decide to take them all. One of those old-lady tartan wheel-along shopping trolleys would be perfect actually)!

As always though I have been totally blown away by all the photographic talent that always inspires me – if you’re not a regular checker-outer of Flickr then I can thoroughly recommend it – just look at these (and they are just the tip of the iceberg)…

And now the year is nearly done. I am still in one piece (albeit a bit creakier) and hopeful for a 2010 of new challenges and exciting opportunities. Got to remember though, it’s all in my hands, no one’s going to do it for me.

Love that thought. My dad used to tell me sometimes, “on your bike.” I tell myself this, as I find myself at the end of another year, another decade.
