Lynmouth

Firstly, a quick observation which will be especially useful if you’re in the UK and shoot 35mm film. Boots (national chain of chemists) do a much, much better job of processing, scanning and printing photos than Tesco (giant UK supermarket) do. By about a million times! I’m singling out Tesco but I am sure the same goes for all the cheap supermarket deals. I was swayed initially by the price (less than £2) deal but I have to say that from now on I am only using Boots. Plus this means I can indulge in one of my other passions – make-up – whilst I wait.

Anyhoo, as you may have gathered I have just got my film back from being processed and they have brought back many happy memories of last week – back when I was free and the sun was shining!

This is Lynmouth – otherwise known as ‘Little Switzerland’…

There was certainly a very alpine-like descent into the village and after a long morning exploring Exmoor we were more than ready for a hearty lunch. Sod the diet, fish and chips was the only thing that would do (notice how I did select the diet coke as my drinkie though)…

Once our tummies we full it was much easier to enjoy the delights of this sweet little village. It’s famous for once having a big flood in the 1950s – I don’t think anything else has ever happened there of any note – due in no small part, I am sure, to the mollifying nature of the local cuisine.

This is the little harbour – see how there are people paddling in the shallow waters? In March. Loony tunes! That land-mass you can just make out in the distance is Wales.

You can really see the colours of Exmoor in this one…

Did I mention we had fish and chips?

I made a terrible, terrible mistake in Lynmouth once, and those photos remind me of it.
We walked down from Lynton, and had a delicious fish’n’chips lunch at what looks like the same place as you. We then headed to the water-powered railway to go back up.
And realised neither of us had the cash on us for the trip back up.
Could we find a cashpoint? No. Try walking up that hill with a full belly…
