Lake District

I am very excited as I’ve just booked a holiday in the Lake District for next month! I’ve never been there before and I’m really looking forward to the break.

I don’t know if you know the area at all but it’s notorious for raining all the time. In a country where it rains all the time this means I am more than likely going to get wet!

Rain is OK with me. I quite like the idea of capturing a damp and liquidy landscape of mountains* and lakes, it’s all part of the experience. Who knows, we might get lucky and catch a break in the clouds, and I’m told when the sun does come out it is the most heavenly place on earth – that’s got to be worth a gamble, hasn’t it?

Here are some photos that have been inspiring me lately on flickr – if mine turn put a quarter as good as these then I will be very happy!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go and start shopping for waterproof clothing and deciding what cameras to take…

*I know they aren’t technically mountains, just big hills, but I come from the relatively flattened out south coast – and at best our hills are ‘rolling’.

you will LOVE the Lake District. I live about an hour and a half away and have been there loads of times but I still get excited when I go up there – you can do ‘wild and deserted’ or ‘bustling and touristy’ within the space of half an hour or less!! Enjoy x
