Olympus mju Zoom Wide 80

My hunt for a pocketably small yet precise point-and-shoot film camera continues. I’ve already trialled and dismissed the Olympus Trip 500. Slightly better this time but also being rejected is the Olympus mju Zoom Wide 80 (called a Stylus Zoom Wide 80 in the US).

I had high hopes – my flickr research revealed some wonderful results and I happily handed over a fiver for a spotlessly clean and hardly used model. I liked that it gave you the option of switching off the flash, even in low light and that you could compensate the exposure for backlit subjects.

In terms of its controls and features it’s more advanced than its Trippy cousin, however it’s definitely in my bad books as most of the shots I got back had this really weird lens flare going on. What’s going on? That’s not good!

I got a small handful of ones that equally inexplicably did not have any weirdness going on. It looks like my quest continues! (I do enjoy the hunt though).
