Life

Peyton Amberg by Tama Janowitz

I’ve finally finished this book! I seem to have been reading it forever; it’s not that it was really awful, just so gritty and real (nasty at times) it didn’t feel like any sort of escape.

It’s about a woman looking back on all her relationships with men – none of them particularly successful. There are loads of sex scenes in this book – every one of them completely unerotic.

I liked the non-linear style of writing; the way it changes between different strands of the story and periods of time until you come full-circle at the end. And if you’re a bit of a fatalist who likes to wallow in self-hatred and pity then you’ll LOVE this book (the goth on the cover should have given this away)!
