Make it sew

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that if you have lots of things happening in your life that people might actually be interested in, that you will have no time in which to write about them in your blog!

My quest to be a bit more ‘hands-on’ and crafty this year is going well… earlier in the year, whilst high on antibiotics, painkillers and suffering general allover body fever I brought myself a sewing machine! It sat in its box for weeks, I would peer in now and again and then shut the box in a hurry when I got painful flashbacks to the horrific needlework classes I was forced to endure at school.

When I was 14 I took a whole year to make a pair of banana-yellow trousers. It was the 1980s so they were going to look hideous anyway, but I managed to make them look even more scary by having one leg longer than the other and bleeding over the zipper area. I wore them once. I knew it would be the only time I would wear them so I let my friends draw all over them. It made them look better!

So now I have managed to kill some demons by taking my first tentative steps on my new sewing machine.

My first stitches…

My first project…

There have been lots of other things happening too… updates soon!
