Life

Goodbye to the longest week of the longest month of the year!

I know, I know, January really does feel like it’s all up hill sometimes – never seeing any daylight and all that pesky rain. But, you know, we have to be positive, people! Yes, it’s hard scarfing down rice cakes and raw carrots instead of the Christmas rations (which basically consist of half hourly intake of Turkish Delight and mince pies), but until the medical community do a bit of a u-turn and recognise the nutritional importance of a sackful of sugar a day, we’re just going to have to save these things for treats. Some people say ‘a little in moderation’ but if you think I can live in the same house as an unfinished tin of Quality Street then you really don’t know me at all!

And, at least all this rain means I get to spend lots more time in my lovely, lovely, lovely new dining room.

I realise it needs a few more decorative touches, but I am quite nervous about disturbing the neutral minimalism of it all. When you’ve lived with yellow artex on the walls, then smoothly plastered walls of Dulux paint are better than any artwork in the world! I have though been eyeing up some particularly attractive prints on etsy though – it will be nice to have some original art on the walls rather than mass produced images from Ikea (although don’t worry, I do still love you Ikea).

Oh, there is this little chap on the back of the door. I love him…

We decided to give up on the Ikea prints a few years ago and now whenever we go on holiday instead of buying loads of tat we try and buy a nice print or if the money allows an original. Nothing mega expensive but a wonderful reminder of all our hols!
Love the dining room and the little bird!!
