Flickr Friday – the photo project edition

I don’t wish to alarm anyone but did you know 2013 is nearly 100 days old? I know!

If you’re also an inhabitant of Northern Europe then like me you’ll have spent most of those 100 days clinging to a hot beverage and wishing you could wear your slippers to work. I believe in science though and like it or not we’re tilting closer and closer to the sun as the days roll by so it won’t be long now before we have to dust off our Lady-Bic’s and find a better excuse for Irishing-up our coffees!

I digress.

Actually this whole post is a digression. What I set out to say was that during 2013 I planned to do some sort of photographic project and time’s running out! I’m after something a bit juicier than a photo-a-day/week type of thing, something challenging that will help me learn.

I have a few ideas and once I’ve finally decided you’ll be the first to know – for now though I thought I’d share some of the awesome projects I’ve discovered whilst researching on flickr…

I am not doing a project, but I want to! I really, really want to. That sounds like such a fun thing to do.

I have one going on at the moment called “I am a stranger here”. It consists of me travelling to the end of a London Underground line and documenting what I find. I want to do all the ends of all the lines before the end of the year, and I am glad that the sun has finally come out!

I also have a couple of other ideas, but havent started them yet.

Looking forward to finding out what you have planned.

EXACTLY! I want a project too! When you finally figure out what yours is going to be, please can you think of one for me too? I can’t do any of those “photo a day” things. And to be honest, i’m not all that interested in taking MORE pictures. I want to take better ones. And different ones. I’d like to be able to pull several pictures together that have a theme (that is something other than “oh and here are some more pictures of my crazy children”). I’d like something that makes me think and that makes me shoot thoughtfully. Something that requires maybe a little planning. Something that i’m going to be passionate about (but that doesn’t necessarily push me out of my comfort zone because I feel pretty awkward most of the time anyway). Something that four squillion people haven’t done before me. Hmm… I’ll figure it out eventually. Probably just in time for my retirement :) In the meantime: those Hasselblad pictures? Holy smokes batman! Beautiful.
