Life

Mottisfont

There’s a big stately home less than 10 miles from my home that I’ve never visited in all my life, so on Friday I took a day off work and finally got round to seeing what was on my almost-doorstep. And the sun shone!

Mottisfont is a 12th century Abbey that’s been added to over the years. I like interiors that are a mishmash of old and new, so when you have 800 years-worth of material to play with it’s bound to be good. I loved the stuff from the 1930s and 40s – it seems so near (yet so far away). Wartime Europe fascinates me.

And just when it I thought it couldn’t get any better, there was a huge exhibition of Lauren Child original artwork.

And the outside was obviously awesome – it’s an ancient walled garden in August. No contest!

So, a fabulous day was had and my camera was pleased of the exercise (as was I).

Taken with my Canon 5D MkII and 50mm f/1.4 lens + iPhone.
