December favourites

I got t he best gift of all this Christmas (no, not a Furby) I got a big old dollop of free time! It was wonderful – nothing to do for a whole week. Do you know what I did? Nothing! And I enjoyed every minute of it.

Whilst I was cocooned on the sofa with the Quality Street and Bailey’s. here is where my iPad led me…

Firstly, I think I may be the last person on earth to discover this but I’ve become addicted to Humans Of New York – sometimes it’s all about the photo, sometimes the accompanying words but either way you can lose big chunks of your afternoon by visiting this website.

Talking of street photography, I have also been admiring the work of Frederick Willard who took his photos around London in the 50s and 60s. Even though these photos were taken relatively recently it’s amazing to see somewhere so familiar look like another world and the juxtaposition between the old and the new.

Do you remember The Breakfast Club? It was one of my favourite films growing up (anything John Hughes did was genius) – if you don’t want the magic if that movie to leave you don’t look at this link – it shows you where they all are now. There’s no big shocks and no one’s done too badly – it’s just weird seeing your childhood heroes all looking like Estate Agents now.

On Etsy (where better to procratinate) I am loving this necklace, these candles and if I had a bike I would be all over these.

Have you got a calendar yet? I rather like the look of this lunar calendar – the moon rocks!

There was more but I am being distracted by yet another meal consisting mainly of cheese and hoping the collective good-intentions that come round each new years will rub off on me.

I hope you all had a marvellous xmas and that 2014 is suitably amazing. See you next year! (Unless you’re reading this after 23:59 on 31 Dec 2013) :)

Happy New Year sweet Angie! Your Christmas sounds rather like mine: deliberately doing nothing, drinking Baileys and eating Quality Street… Quality Street are still fabulous even when you live in the Land of Chocolate. Their jewel-like wrappers are beautiful and I decanted mine into a beautiful glass bonbon jar so they felt very luxurious – even when I had several in my mouth at once. Aww! Quality Streets! I will miss you… Until next year :)
